Mom… Mommy… Mama… MOM?! Mother’s Day Boudoir Photography with Shelly Erwich Photography?!

Brittan’s Journey: From Mom to Herself

How many times a day do you hear those words? And when was the last time someone actually called you by your name—without needing a snack, a missing shoe, or help finding something that’s been in plain sight the whole time?

Motherhood is a full-time, unpaid, messy, beautiful, exhausting job. Somewhere between wiping noses and keeping track of everyone's schedule, you might’ve forgotten something: you're still a woman. Not just “Mom.” A full, complex, beautiful human being who deserves to feel something other than tired or needed.

That’s why I believe a Mother’s Day boudoir session isn’t a luxury—it’s survival-level self-care.

Let’s be honest—there’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to feel gorgeous. You spend your days caring for everyone else. Maybe it’s time someone (yes, you) did something for you. Wearing something beautiful—lace, silk, or even your favorite worn-in tee—can shift something in your bones. It’s not about showing skin; it’s about showing up for yourself.

And that’s exactly what Brittan did.

Her session started in full mom-mode, teddy bear in lap (thanks to her toddler, Willow). But by the end of the shoot, she was stretched across my boudoir bed, glowing in a way that had nothing to do with makeup or lingerie—and everything to do with finally giving herself the room to just be her. No one calling her name. No one needing anything. Just her.

So this Mother’s Day, instead of another candle or a “#1 Mom” mug, give yourself something that won’t get chipped or left behind in the minivan. A session that lets you remember who you are underneath the chaos.

And when someone inevitably yells “MOM!” from the other room? You’ll smile—because the woman who owns that name? She just got her fire back.
