She Trusted Me with Her Wildest Idea—
and We Ran With It

I was there the day she was born, literally waiting outside her mom’s hospital room. Fast forward a couple decades, and we’re on a girls weekend for my birthday when she pulls me aside and whispers, “Can we sneak off and do a beach shoot where I’m posing in the nude?” We slipped away from the group like teenagers with a secret, just she and I. This beach was a bit public and there were quite a few people around, but it was so foggy they could barely see us. She’s always been bold, creative, and totally in tune with herself, and getting to document that energy, in a moment that felt both wild and scary, was everything.
Later, as we were culling through the images, what we saw on the computer screen, had us both crying, the good kind of tears. The “oh my God we did it and these images are gorgeous!” kinda tears!
